If you’re a young person aged around 18 – 24 receiving certain benefits you can apply to join our technical and craft work experience programme taking place in Bognor Regis next month.

Led by professional theatre technicians, this intensive but friendly training course offers unique hands-on experience of a range of practical but transferable skills that can improve your employment prospects and boost your confidence.

The course is free of charge but only available to benefit claimants (Universal Credit, ESA, IncomeSupport, JSA).

Over the course of the three weeks (running 6th – 24th September) you’ll work together as a group on a series of tasks using team-work, problem-solving and creative skills. You’ll build practical sound effects such as a wind machine; create puppets, props and sound effects and help out backstage.

The finished comedy sketches (performed by others) will be presented to an audience as part of the Southdowns Folk Festival and at a comedy gala in the final week.

You’ll also benefit from on-going support in your search for employment and can access additional learning and creative opportunities after the course has ended. You’ll also work towards a qualification in Health & Safety Awareness (Level 1).

Feedback from previous courses

“It was a challenge but I managed to get through it and I’ve learnt new skills. I’ve enjoyed watching it all come
together! It’s helped me to consider other work options including apprenticeships.”

“It’s been good – I’ve enjoyed it. I’m now a lot more confident – talking in group discussion, meeting new people,
working in teams and trying new things. That’s surprised me.”
