Summer is almost here and we’re proud to be hosting the 3rd Bognor Puppet Festival!  Join us for some puppet family fun indoors at the Bognor Makerspace, and outdoors at the library garden.

Most shows are suitable for children aged 2+ and feature fantastic, surprising and comic visual creations. Full details can be found on the Ticketsource booking pages.

Mouse on a Mission

Tuesday 27th May – 11:00am, 1:30pm & 2:30pm @ The Makerspace / Ages 5+ – £5

Meet the Mouse-spotters and track down the story of Daisy mouse, whose home is in danger, and Henry mouse, who thinks he’s too old and tired to help her. With stop-motion film, live puppetry, masks, and lots of joining in so you can help Daisy and Henry.

Created and performed by the Making Theatre Gaining Skills trainees and community course participants, and directed by Darren East (award-winning puppetry director and our creative director).

Shoe Baby

Awarded Best Children’s Show of Brighton Festival 2006
Shoe Baby is a magical puppet show! A fantastical sing-a-long adventure with a baby who takes to the sea, the air, the zoo all in a shoe! Shoe Baby is adapted from the book written by well-known author, Joyce Dunbar, published by Walker books. The music is written by talented musician, Tom Gray of the award winning band Gomez.

Masterchef Mo and the Missing Cake

Thursday 29th May – 11:00am & 1:30pm @ The Makerspace / For 3-6 Year Olds – £5

On your mark, get set, BAKE! World-famous chef Mo has lost the recipe for their most scrumptious cake. Join us on this adventure to help find the missing ingredients. With delightful puppets, magic tricks and games, time is running out to bake it till you make it! The show is a fun, interactive puppet show designed for 3-6 year-olds.

Du Iz Tak?

Friday 30th May – 11:00am & 1:30pm @ The Makerspace / For All Ages – £5

Told through the language of insects, Du Iz Tak? is a story about the cycle of life and all its impermanence. Come and peer into a miniature world of little puppets to see a delightful group of friends exploring their ever-changing home. Funny, imaginative and thought-provoking. A show for all the family based on the beautiful book by Carson Ellis.

The Puppet Petting Farm

Saturday 31st May – 10:30am & 12:00pm @ Bognor Library / For All Ages – £5

Join us down on the farm for an interactive puppet show filled with animal fun and original live music. Suitable for the whole family to enjoy.The petting farm features lots of different characters from the cheeky chicken to the gentle giant highland cow.

Interact with these lovable creatures and enjoy the live music and original songs which build a wonderful atmosphere of energy and play.

By The Scent of The Cherry Blossom

For a few, brief, summer months, the fortunate folk who live or travel through the Garden of England are able to experience the wonder that is the Kentish Cherry.

Bathed in physical performance, puppetry, visual poetry and clowning, By the Scent of the Cherry Blossom is a mini collection of fascinating tales that give voice to the world of cherry – the orchard dwellers, the sellers, the enthusiastic buyers, the myths, the legends, the infamous and sometimes surprising recipes.
